A new gun law restricting a number of firearms and attachments and limiting ammunition was signed into law Tuesday night by Gov. JB Pritzker. The bill, along with requiring registration for such guns if already owned and enhancing gun restraining orders, hits at semiautomatic weapons.
La Salle residents living within the 3rd or 4th wards of the city were asked to shelter in place as a precautionary measure Wednesday after a fire at Carus Chemical – an order that was lifted early Wednesday evening.
GENEVA – Fiora’s, a renowned Geneva restaurant at 317 S. Third St. known for its food, ambiance, outdoor patio and live music, announced via social media that it closed permanently Jan. 3 after 13 years.
The former Illinois Valley Community Hospital will be closed next Saturday.
Operations at St. Margaret’s Health-Peru will be suspended at 7 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, and hospital officials are unsure when, or if, the Peru facility can be reopened. The hope is to reopen it as a rural emergency hospital, a designation that opens St. Margaret’s to outside funds, but that requires regulatory changes by Springfield.
